Delta Zeta Turtle Tug

I woke up this morning around 9:00 AM after getting to bed last night around 6:00 AM. I’m sore from recent events so it took me an hour to get motivated and get out of bed. I really didn’t even want to get up, but after I got phone calls from both Johnny and Miguel I finally managed to grab a Monster energy drink and get myself ready for the days events. I’m out the door by 10:30 AM on my way down to Wild River in Irvine.

I get to Wild River at 11:00 AM to find that I’m the first one there. I sign in and register and go meet my coaches, go Laurie, Berenice, Danielle and Mary! A little later Johnny, Miguel, Albert, and Robert all show up. They all sign in and we all fill out waiver paperwork. Hey, you gotta be safe rather then sorry. We hang out for a little bit until the festivities began.

We started the event off with the chin orange pass game. Basically the point it to show your spirit and by using only your chin and neck to hold the orange, pass it down the line through 5 members of your team and 5 Delta Zeta’s and then go back to the front with it. We did ok getting it down, but on the way back we had troubles. I think we got 3rd or 4th place. :(

Next was the tug of war event. We got to go second, I forget against who, and we won. The next spirit event was to dig out 3 pieces of gum out of a plate of flour. I got volunteered to do the event, which was fine by me, I’m down for silly fun. I was the first one to get the gum out of the flour in which I thought I won, but apparently there was a second requirement that I didn’t hear about. You needed to blow a bubble. Well, flour in your mouth makes it hard to get the necessary saliva to be able to chew bubble gum and blow a bubble, so even though I was first to get the gum, I was probably 3rd to blow the bubble. Damn I gotta pay more attention to directions!

We got in our next tug of war match and unfortunately lost. We held in there as long as we could, but eventually we lost our footing and it was over. No green Jello bath for us though, we slid under it. :p The next spirit event was to have one of our members run up the water slide tower, grab the components of a baby bottle, run down, pour in a bottle of root beer and make up the bottle for someone to drink. Can you guess who was the one that got to drink the bottle. Booyah! I rock! ;) Robert was damn quick and got up the tower and down the tower pretty damn fast, however the other guy was pretty damn fast as well so it came down to who sucks more…I mean, who can suck more…I mean…you know what I mean. :p I started off strong, but as I got down to the bottom, it was hard as hell to finish that off. My opponent started to catch up, but I was able to drain out the very last bit before he could and we won. It was dope. :)

We did our last tug of war event and won, but got kinda slided since we won twice, lost once, but somehow was only able to compete for 3rd or 4th place. I think something weird happened, but whatever, it wasn’t about winning ( ok yeah, maybe a little :p ), but it was for the fun. The pool of Jello that the Delta Zeta’s had made for our tug of war pit of doom had never been used, since we all slided under it, so they were bummed out that no one had jumped in. I had planned on jumping in, but someone else had beaten me to the thought and did it first. To not lose out on spirit points my team cheered me on, and we got a video of me face planting into the pool of Jello. It was fun, but damn is that stuff sticky!

Our final spirit event was to use every item that was in our goodies bag to make the most creative and fun thing we could. Since I had jumped into the Jello, I found that we already had a source of glue to be able to stick the things to me easily without trying to figure out how to wrap them on someone. I got silver stars stuck all over me, a plastic plate crown, ribbons galore, a puzzle heart, as well as some stickies and paper saying “Delta Chi” Heart “Delta Zeta.” After everything was done and ready, we got judged and after viewing everyone, they came to the conclusion that there were two teams that got first place. Delta Chi ( oh yeah, we knew we had it ) and Sigma Nu.

All in all the event kicked ass and I’m so glad that I got prodded to get motivated and participate because today was filled with fun memories. Thanks to everyone that came, I hope you all enjoy the pictures and memories! :)

The Fog / Fridays / Brotherhood / DZ After Party

Last night I was invited to see The Fog with Eric, Jenna, Joe, and a few of their friends, Tom, Sean, Brittany, and Stacey. We hit up the Anaheim Hills Theater for the 7:40 PM showing, and me being me got there at 7:38 PM. It’s a good thing I planned ahead and asked Eric to get my ticked ahead of time and wait for me.

Once inside the theater Eric informed me that the ticket seller had warned him that there were going to be a bunch of teenagers inside the movie, and that it may get a little noisy. I thought nothing of it until I got inside the theater where the movie was going to be played.

Chaos…anarchy…teenagers…everywhere…

It was fun, It took me back to when I was in high school with all my friends. Good times. :)

The movie started and the theater rotated several staff members to sit in the theater and make sure that everyone kept quiet and let everyone else enjoy the movie. The movie overall was cool. I don’t think it was great enough to get on my “I’m getting that on DVD” list, but it was enjoyable to hang out with friends. The movie had a few pop-up scary moments, but it wasn’t anything bad that really got me. I guess I’ve seen too many scary movies and know when to expect something to happen. /shrug

After the movie we all went over to TGI Fridays for some drinks. The conversation was good, and we all had fun socializing. I enjoyed listening in to everyone’s conversation and just hearing what was going on in everyone’s lives. After words, around 11:30 PM, we all set out for home, and I took off to the Delta Chi house. When I got there it looked like there was a good turn out, but from the time it took to park my car in G Parking, and walk to the fraternity, it was over. I went out back and saw Eddie and his girl, Alehandro with his girl, as well as Renee and Matt. We kicked it out back for a while trying to cook until I finally decided that the burgers were going to take at least an hour to cook on the cooled flames. I jumped in my car and hit In and Out for a quick feeding, but for whatever reason, it didn’t fill me up, but it made me sick. :( I went back to the house one more time hoping to see some more people and find out what was going on.

Back at the house Marco and Jorge were there and we found out that the Delta Zeta’s formal was out and some of the girls were having an after party with some of the DChi Brothers. We hit them up, found where the party was at, and took off, I think it was about 1:45 AM by the time we got to the house. We hung out at the house, watching some card game being played, saw a few lap dances, and ended up just all kicking back talking. The party ended around 4:30 AM since everyone was pretty beat and all went home.

All in all, it was a pretty fun day. :)

Gammies n’ Jammies / Founders Day Brotherhood

Last night was Gammies n’ Jammies as well as Delta Chi’s Founders day, which also happens to be our Thursday night Brotherhood.

I got to the house around 6:30 PM after missing a meeting at school to study our education and a few of the guys were already starting up the night chilling with some beers. The plan was to head over to Gammies n’ Jammies around 7:30 PM so that we would get there when the party had started. Johnny gave me a ring around 7:30 PM and asked if we were on our way over and I let him know I’d try to get everyone motivated…well, 30 minutes later we finally got initiative to go.

On our way from the parking garage and almost to the event, two guys with two girls were chilling on the side when one of the guys made the comment “I f****** hate Delta Chi’s.” Gonzo was the first one to turn around, and the rest of us followed. Apparently Gonzo knew who they were so he retorted, “Well I f****** hate Pi Kapps.” At this point in time things started to heat up, and the two girls tried to defuse the situation saying that he was drunk, and a few of our guys got Gonzo and we went in to the dance.

Once in side it was pretty fun, I have to agree with what Johnny had told me about there being more girls then guys, since when we got there that’s the way it was, but by 9:00 PM the ratio had shifted. At 9:30 PM more drama started to happen so Eric decided that it would just be better to leave Gammies n’ Jammies all together and go back to the house then to have something get out of hand. We were on our way out, when what do I witness happening again? The same guy is fronting up to Gonzo trying to pick a fight, setting up time and place. Gonzo and a few of the other guys were down, but some of the Pi Kapps came to talk to us and try to defuse it before it got that far. Eventually everyone calmed down, and we set out for the house.

I wonder why people feel the need to start crap when all we’re trying to do is go to have a fun time. Who knows, maybe it stems out from our sports competitiveness, or maybe it’s because the Pi Kapps, as well as two other fraternities are on probation and can’t have parties that pisses them off. Who knows. /shrug

All in all everything went well, no fights occurred, and we all enjoyed the rest of the night at the house having a few brews, dancing, celebrating, smoking, eating, and whatever else we did. :)

In the end, my Big Bro Julian took me out to get some Del Taco, so that was sick and topped off the night of fun.
